The shapes of problem we solve
Every business is different, but the problems rhyme. These are the patterns we see most often in New Zealand businesses, and the ones where the return tends to be clearest.
Your systems record how a transaction was coded. The document itself, the invoice, the contract, the delivery note, holds the detail that actually matters, and it is effectively invisible.
We read the source documents to line-item level, connect them to the coding and master data in your ERP, and surface what the summary hides: rate creep, off-contract buying, duplicated charges, the same part bought at four different prices across the group.
Stock is often the largest asset on the balance sheet and the one managed most on instinct. Reordering runs on printed reports, experience and habit. Slow-moving stock is found late.
We build forecasting and recommendation engines that work from your own sales history, encode the rules your buyers carry in their heads, and show their reasoning on every line so a human knows where to check.
Twenty years of email, documents, meeting notes, quotes and support history. All of it searchable in theory, none of it useful in practice.
We turn that corpus into something the business can ask questions of, properly governed, so people see what they are entitled to see and the answers cite where they came from.
Once the answers are trusted, the next step is systems that act: flagging the exception before someone has to look for it, drafting the order, preparing the review, chasing the thing that would otherwise be missed.
This is where the return moves from better decisions to less work, and it is only responsible once the foundation underneath it is sound.
GETTING DATA OUT
We know the systems your data lives in
Most of the value in a business is locked inside systems that were never designed to give it up. Getting it out cleanly is not a generic data problem, and it is where inexperienced projects lose their first three months.
-
Table structures are not obvious
-
Customisations change the meaning of fields
-
The same concept is recorded three different ways depending on who entered it and when
-
Master data drifts
-
The system that matters most is often the one with no usable interface
A general-purpose data consultancy will spend weeks discovering what an experienced team already knows, and will still miss the things that only show up after years of supporting something live.
Ideation Partners is backed by Verde Group, whose teams have spent more than twenty-five years implementing and supporting the finance and operational systems New Zealand businesses run on. That is not what we sell. It is why the first phase of our work tends to move faster than clients expect.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE WORK
Before you book
It makes very little difference. Those are simply where we are fastest. The method applies to any system with a database or an API, and often to systems with neither.
Usually not. Reporting answers questions somebody already thought to ask. We are useful for the questions nobody has structured a report around, and for the detail sitting inside documents that reporting never reaches.
Your data stays in your environment under your governance. We design for it, and we scope it explicitly in every engagement.
Not necessarily, and not as a matter of principle. Sometimes the right first step is a warehouse, sometimes it is much less. The workshop tells us which.
Start with the question, not the technology
A Discovery Workshop is half a day with the people who actually do the work. You leave with a ranked list of where AI and connected data will pay for themselves in your business, and a costed first step.
